About AeSI

 Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) is the principal Society in India serving the professions in areas of aeronauticsaerospace and aviation. Its stated primary purpose is to “advance the sciences, engineering, technology and management of aerospace, aeronautics and aviation and to foster and promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits”.

History

 The Aeronautical Society of India a professional body devoted to advancement of aeronautical sciences and engineering in India was founded in 1948. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Patron-in-Chief of the Society. Over the Years Dr S. Radhakrishnan, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, were the successive Patrons-in-Chief of the Society.

Over the years, the Society has grown into a major professional body in the field of aeronautics, aviation and aerospace. The Society has 15 Branches at all important centres of aviation in the country viz., Agra, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nasik, New Delhi, Sunabeda, Thiruvananthapuram and Nagpur. The society also has an overseas branch at Washington, USA.

The Society has more than 5000 members drawn from all major aeronautical establishments such as Defence Research & Development Establishments, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, DGCA, Academic Institutions, Aeronautical Development Agency, Indian Air Force, Indian Space Research Organization, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, National Airports Authority of India, Air India, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, Pawn Hans and private airlines. Most of the organizations / industries in this field in this country and abroad are Corporate Members of the Society.

Objectives

 The objective of the Society is to promote the advancement and nationwide diffusion of the knowledge of aeronautical sciences and aircraft engineering among various streams including industry, academia and research laboratories. In reflection of the illustrious tradition,

The Aeronautical Society of India is the only forum in the country that provides intense interaction between professionals from all facets of civil and military aviation as well as the manufacturing/training/maintenance agencies. Over the years, the Aeronautical Society of India has generated large pool of aviation manpower through non-formal education and training programs.

 Activities 

  • The Society’s activities include fraternization amongst professionals, promotion of aeronautical activities and policy and increased awareness of indigenous / international information/events through lectures, workshops and seminars on subject of topical interest.

  • The Society also conducts examinations in aeronautical engineering twice a year. A pass in this examination has been recognized by the Central Government in the Ministry of education as being equivalent to a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from an Indian University.

  • Approximately 50 candidates graduate every year. The Society is thus rendering a yeoman’s service by giving an opportunity to the young to acquire a degree in Aeronautical Engineering without straining the educational system and providing flexibility to students to undertake this on a part-time basis. It also provides a centralized library facility to its members and students.

  • The Society publishes a quarterly journal containing Research and Technical papers on various facets of aeronautical sciences and a Quarterly Newsletter. The journal is of a very high standard and is rated world class.

  • The Society conducts and Annual Essay competition to recognize and encourage talent among young students, engineers and scientist, and awards prizes to winners.

  • The Society also confers a number of prestigious awards for outstanding contributions in fundamental / applied research in the field of aeronautics and space, every year.

    National Seminar on Indeginization

    National seminar on “Indigenization on LCA & ALH Components

    Aeronautical Society of India, founded on December 27, 1948 with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the First Prime Minister of independent India  as its First Chief Patron, has been on the forefront on all aerospace activities  contributing to the growth and self reliance in aerospace in India. The Society can claim  huge membership and is very active in its role for providing platform for the fraternization amongst Aerospace Professionals. We have branches all over India.

    The Society conducts AGM’s in all branches to have greater interaction with the industries and personnel. We have the pleasure to inform that the Bangalore branch is organizing our AGM  on 3rd Aug 2016 at Dr.V.M.Ghatge Memorial Convention Center, HAL Airport Road, Bangalore. The highlight of the AGM will be one day National seminar on Indigenization on LCA & ALH Components” followed by Dr.V.M Ghatge Memorial lecture. We expect participation from all DRDO Labs, Defence PSUs and Private industries amounting to more than 500 delegates

    Many eminent Aerospace personalities will be participating in the event. The National Seminar is planned for one day with invited talks to be delivered by expert speakers from NAVY, ADA, HAL, DRDO and other private partners.  We are also organizing an exhibition on Indigenization” the same day showcasing Components Indigenized and components to be Indigenized by various Divisions of HAL and by private industries for LCA Aircraft & ALH Helicopter.

    Registration fee of Rs.2,500/- per delegate, Rs.2,000/- for AeSI Members and Rs.1,000/- for Academia (Staff & Students) The Delegate fee includes Seminar Kit, High tea, Lunch & visit to Exhibition.
